I’ve been working in the technology industry for over 20 years, gaining experience in virtually every aspect of the business. From large institutions to fast-paced helpdesk environments, retail stores, sales, and more, this wide range of professional experiences has given me a solid, well-rounded understanding of technology’s role in supporting businesses. Whether as a technician, manager, or consultant, I’ve worked across various roles—providing technical support in high-pressure environments, managing large teams, and consulting in system design, application development, and security. I’ve had the privilege of helping institutions like universities implement secure, effective IT solutions, delivering high-level customer support, and developing processes that ensure smooth operations for businesses of all sizes.
Three adjectives to describe myself
I would describe myself as adaptable, collaborative, and customer-focused. These qualities have been crucial in my journey, allowing me to effectively work in diverse environments and connect with teams and clients to deliver meaningful results.
Technical Skills
My technical skills span a wide range of areas, including programming, software debugging, data management, Microsoft administration, CRM systems, system design and implementation, application development, and advanced audio-visual knowledge. I enjoy bringing a creative approach to technical challenges and developing solutions that are both functional and user-friendly. Additionally, I have experience in technical writing, creative writing, and music production, which further enhances my ability to blend creativity with technical expertise.
Problem Solving Abilities
I’ve always been passionate about problem-solving, especially in situations where visibility is limited. Working in technical phone support, I’ve developed the ability to quickly assess situations, ask the right questions, and identify solutions. I approach every problem holistically, looking beyond the immediate issue to understand its root cause. This helps me not only resolve the problem at hand but also address any underlying issues that could cause future disruptions.
Security and Risk Management
Having worked with various institutions, security, and risk management have always been top priorities. I’ve worked on numerous projects that involved implementing advanced threat detection systems, conducting regular security audits, and developing risk mitigation strategies. I also have experience coordinating incident response efforts and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Security management isn’t just about preventing breaches—it’s about being proactive, preparing for potential risks, and developing strategies that help minimize disruption when issues arise. As an on-call team member during technology crises, I’ve been able to act swiftly and calmly, ensuring minimal downtime during data breaches or system outages.
Approach to Collaboration
Having managed large teams, I understand the importance of collaboration and support. I believe in fostering an open-door environment where staff feel comfortable sharing ideas and challenges. I see shortfalls as opportunities for growth and development, and I’m always looking for ways to help my team improve their skills and work together more effectively. Collaboration isn’t just about getting tasks done—it’s about building a strong, cohesive team that can tackle any challenge.
Fun Fact
From a very young age, I was fascinated by technology. I remember disassembling and repairing devices, always eager to understand how things worked. This curiosity turned into a lifelong passion for both learning and creating. I’ve built my career around that passion, constantly developing my understanding and skills. Outside of work, I also pursue hobbies like scuba diving, writing, and even running my own media company at one point. I believe that a mix of professional dedication and personal interests helps me stay engaged and creative in my work.
